Baileys Irish Cream

by admin on Mar.19, 2007, under liqueur, spirit, whisky

Background: Irish whiskey liqueur with a cream base.  ”The Original” and fairly popular one.

Nose:  Not getting much.  Caramel and dairy.

Taste: Cream and whiskey.  Any subtleties of flavour are masked by the sweetness of the drink.  Smooth, nutty finish.

(As it's already at 17% ABV, I'm not going to do any dilution.)

Overall: Eminently drinkable straight.  I know of several intriguing dessert recipes that use it, including cheesecake and ice cream; I haven't had a chance to try any of them as yet.
