Anchor Junipero
by admin on Jan.28, 2009, under gin, london dry gin, spirit

Background: Highly acclaimed London Dry gin from Anchor Distilling.
Nose: Clean and citrusy.
Taste: Fresh, crisp juniper. Hints of lemon and orange zest. Licorice in the finish.
Overall: Now this is a gin. Smooth and sippable, but plenty of spiciness and the juniper is the star of the show.
Celebration Caffè
by admin on Jan.14, 2009, under blended coffee, coffee
Background: Holiday offering by Allegro Coffee Company in Colorado, exclusively for Whole Foods. This year's blend is medium roast and contains coffees from Kenya, Ethiopia, and Guatemala.
Nose: Very sweet and fruity/floral, hints of spicy ginger and something that I can't quite place. Caramelised onion?
Taste: Bright and chocolaty. A little dried citrus, clean and sweet.
Overall: A zesty, flavourful cup of coffee.
Thorn-Clarke Pinot Noir Chardonnay NV Brut Reserve
by admin on Jan.04, 2009, under sparkling wine, wine
Background: Is evidently part of a line called “Sandpiper”, though there's no indication of this on the bottle. 66% Pinot Noir and 34% Chardonnay go into this traditionally styled sparkling wine.
Appearance: Agglomerated cork with two discs of solid cork on the bottom. Pours a light peach with a hint of pink.
Nose: Strawberries and cream, toasted pecans.
Taste: Medium-light body, zesty acidity and the barest hint of sweetness. Biscuit and apple present.
Overall: Quite drinkable, and great quality for the price.
