Lagavulin 16yo

Background: Another Diageo Classic Malt; this one is a heavily peated whisky made on Islay.
Nose: Slightly fruity peat smoke.
Taste: Wow. A blast of peat, mellowing to a sweetish middle with hints of coffee; long, mainly phenolic finish.
(After addition of water)
Nose: Sweeter, with hints of vanilla.
Taste: Opens up very nicely. More defined fruit notes in the start, smoke more evident througout.
Overall: Again, a very nice dram. Very complex single malt, probably my favourite Islay. Huge emphasis on the peat makes it unappealing to people who don't like that sort of thing.

One of my favorite malts, regardless of region. You may dig Sea Wynde rum as well, as it's got a similar kind of panache to it.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll have to see if I can track some down.
